The Need

Cineplex started as a progressive motion picture exhibitor. Today, it proudly runs and operates a circuit of theatres and entertainment venues within amusement, media and digital media—all with the mission of passionately delivering exceptional experiences. Transparency and stakeholder engagement is a priority at Cineplex, as is exploring opportunities for value creation. Cineplex required the completion of a 5-year ESG Roadmap to meet the emerging stakeholder expectations for ESG and inform the resources and investments required for the development of a cross functional ESG program.

 

The Outcome

With a focused and disciplined growth strategy, led by an experienced management team, Cineplex’s initiative to develop an ESG Roadmap was brought to life with the services of LittPark. Collaborating with the Cineplex cross functional ESG team and using proven methodologies, the ESG Roadmap project began by understanding its current context of ESG.  Engaging with its priority stakeholders, we completed a series of baseline exercises, providing insights on the opportunities to support Cineplex’s vision for ESG and value creation for stakeholders. Balancing this process was the completion of a Sector Benchmarking and Materiality Assessment. With all three phases of the ESG diagnostic completed, an informed set of ESG initiatives were designed specifically for each business function and sequenced to suit the current resources and planned investments to transition to ESG. 

The Roadmap provides the foundation for Cineplex to build out its ESG strategies, define key actions and steps for implementation, and present the ESG value proposition for its stakeholders that its executive leadership team can endorse.
